The ADVANCE Degree Completion Program
Program InformationThe ADVANCE program in organizational management is available for adults who have approximately 60 hours of transferable semester credits toward a bachelor's degree. Credit may be awarded for learning from life experiences, and the 48-credit major in organizational management can be completed in approximately 18 months by attending classes one night a week and one to two Saturdays per term. Instructors for the program are drawn from OVU's faculty and qualified individuals from the business community.
Performance EvaluationThe ADVANCE program is designed and structured for the adult learner. Student performance is most often evaluated by summary papers, class discussion and participation, project work, and written exercises. Evaluation minimizes the traditional reliance on written examinations. Student involvement in the learning process is featured throughout the program.
Student CohortsDegree completion students accomplish the program as a cohort, a group of individuals who stay together for about 18 months (three six-month academic terms, including summers). These individuals develop a strong sense of community and also become a strong support system for each other. This system optimizes the interchange of ideas and experiences and enhances collaboration and class interaction, allowing adults to excel in their particular learning situation. |
