Ohio Valley University (formerly Ohio Valley College) is a Christian, coeducational, liberal arts university offering baccalaureate and associate degrees in selected majors. Its mission is to transform lives in a Christ-centered academic community that integrates higher learning, biblical faith, and service to God and humanity.

Ohio Valley University was founded in 1960 and is operated by Christians in Churches of Christ. However, the University has neither legal or organizational ties with any church and accepts qualified applicants of all races and religions.

The University seeks to create learning situations both in and out of the classroom in which Biblical studies and general studies are effectively integrated and relevant to the issues and needs of society. To earn a bachelor's degree, students must successfully complete at least 128 credit hours.

The University operates three separate colleges. The Undergraduate College consists of all existing A.A./A.S. and B.A./B.S. programs offered for traditional-age students, primarily in day classes during regular academic sessions. The College for Professional Studies includes all programs of the Institute for Adult Learning and incorporates programs for adult learners, corporate training, and other educational opportunities outside of the regular classroom. The Graduate College has been formed to develop future degree programs at the master's level.

OVU is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
